I had originally written an 800 word rant about Valentine’s Day that transitioned into a minor thinkpiece on weddings and marriage that was supposed to go here, but when I read it a second time, it was so preachy and defensive and just plain awful. I couldn’t delete it fast enough.
So, I’ll just say that I hope your V-Day is happy and fulfilling, regardless of what you do, whether it’s getting a table at the toughest reservation in America or ordering Chinese takeout and watching a Kevin Smith film (which is what we’ll be doing, just like we did our first year together).
Here’s what I wrote this week:
Writing:
- The NBA and Hip-Hop: Till Death Do They Part [The Musical Outcast]
- “Why Did I Wait So Long?” [Medium]
Miscellaneous:
- Magic & Bird Through the Years [Tumblr]
Quote:
“We are most alive when we’re in love.”
– John Updike
Happy Valentines Day!
