Today, this blog reached 100 followers and so I wanted to take just a moment to thank all of you that subscribe. I’m truly grateful.
It’s not a lot to most people. 100 followers is not considered much compared to other sites that get millions of page views per day. Even the other sites I write for get much more traffic, but there’s a reason for that. This blog is just me, nothing more, nothing fancy. And that’s why, to me, 100 subscribers is a lot. I take it seriously and hopefully, you realize that every time you come to this site because I try to let the writing show that.
I don’t (generally) write listicles or clickbait headlines. I don’t fill a page full of gifs and then ask you to make it go viral. That’s not why I’m here and, I’m guessing, not why you’re here, either.
My goal is to write well-thought-out, complete pieces on a variety of subjects. These almost always reflect my life at the time, like saying goodbye to an old car or a toxic workplace. That’s also why I no longer write pieces on Sofia the First despite the fact that those are some of the most popular things I’ve ever written. My daughter rarely watches the show anymore, so it’s no longer part of my daily life and I don’t want to manufacture something just for the sake of readers.
The writing will continue to evolve. There are times when I have nothing to say – life can be simultaneously incredibly busy and yet mundane and that doesn’t normally equate to strong writing. However, there are other times when it seems like I touch on something that others are thinking or feeling as well and when people respond to something you’ve put out there, it’s an incredible feeling.
All the best,
