What a week.
The first week of a new year is always busy, but this week was crazy. As a result, my output dipped considerably (I’m skipping a meeting to write this), but I still managed to put out a few things, namely my rankings of The West Wing‘s best scenes, which quite a few people clicked on, so that was cool.
This week, it was rumored that Halle Berry is dating Chris Webby. If you don’t know who he is, don’t worry, you’re not alone. He’s a (mediocre) rapper from Norwalk, Connecticut.
In addition to dating a gorgeous woman, his profile will be raised significantly, not only because she is far more famous than he, but also because tabloids always make a big deal about romances between people with wide age ranges (she’s 49, he’s 27).
Personally, I think it’s dope that we’re now at a point where no one makes a big deal about the fact that he’s a white MC. For decades, the term “white rapper” was a pejorative, someone that was seen as a clown, or worse, a “wigger.” It’s nice that now a shitty rapper is just a shitty rapper, regardless of race.
Speaking of rap, I know I’m no longer the target demographic for hip-hop, but Pusha T’s new album, King Push – Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude, is wonderfully good. I highly recommend it.
Here’s what I managed to put together this week:
