That’s the thesis of a book by Gavin Menzies – and this subsequent film – that China discovered the so-called “New World” seven decades before Christopher Columbus stumbled upon it. (It should be noted that immediately upon its publication, Menzies and his book were widely discredited by historians and scholars.)
